Trance and Progressive House - Artists S
Listed on this page are various trance / progressive house singles and 12"s listed in alphabetical order (indexed by the first letter of the artists name). When I first started writing this site I grouped singles and 12"s together in this fashion as a fast means of cataloging tracks. These pages are now being slowly dissolved, with each individual artist and producer featuring on their own individual page, although this is taking some time to complete. In the mean time use the A - Z link bar below to skip to other pages on these A-Z pages. Please note that a full A-Z list of artists and producers featuring on this site can be found here.

CDS: Saccoman - Distant Planet[ZYX 8908-8]
Released '98 on XZYX Music (Germany). Written by G.Saccoman. Arranged by G.Saccoman & M.Picotto. Mixed by A.Remondini. Three quality mixes of a superb trancer.
| |||
12": Sandstorm - The Return of Nothing[RENR001]
Released 5/00 on Renaissance Recordings. Written and produced by Mark Picchiotti for MARK!. Remix and additional production by Evolution. This is a really deep breakbeat progressive trancer - aim for the Evolution Mix which is the better of the two mixes (the Evolution Dub losses the plot a little and goes a little bit too experimental for my liking).
| |||
CDS: Sandstorm - The Return of Nothing[RENCDS001]
Released 5/00 on Renaissance Recordings. Written and produced by Mark Picchiotti for MARK!. Remix and additional production by Evolution. Thanks to Brian Harris for this information.
| |||
12": Sangers - Dreams[VIO1115]
Released 2/99 on Violent Records/Violent Music. Written and produced by Cor Sangers. Two cuts of a superb track that borders as hard-house/trance, incorporating the sample "Dreams" that was first heard on a hard trance beauty of the same name by Morning Wave.
| |||
12": Schubraketen - Superheftig People[XLTD9908]
Released 2/2000 on X-IT Records GmBH. Produced by Marc 'O Tool & Cris Source. Written by Marco Lletschko & Christian Sauer. Pummeling trance that makes good use of the 'Let Freedom....' part of the Dr Martin Luther King speech. As the title of the mixes suggests, one is pretty heavy, whilst one is slightly lighter.
| |||
12": Scott Lee - The Funky Guitar Man[OTT001]
Released 6/00 on OTT Recordings. I've got minimal info on this 12" - however, its a mighty fine cut of banging hard trance combined with real funky guitar riffs. Superb! The Vinyl Groover & The Red Hard House Mix kind of loses the edge slightly, with less emphesis on the guitar, hence stick to the original mix for a peak time dance floor pounder.
| |||
12": Signum feat. Scott Mac - Coming On Strong[JX610]
Released 8/99 on Jink Records. Written & produced by Ron Hagen, Pascal Minnaard & Scott Mac. A quality vocal progressive houser featuring three very different remixes where the B0 Bellow vs Euphoriah Remix is the better of the three.
| |||
CDS: Signum feat. Scott Mac - Coming On Strong[JX-590-CDM]
Released 1999 on Jinx Records. Thanks to Brian Harris for this information.
| |||
12": Singles & Angles - Submerge[GA016]
Released 2/2000 on Good:As Records. Written by D. Siliakus. Produced by J. Engelaar & D. Siliakus. Liscensed from Liquid Recordings.
| |||
CD Single/12": 666 - D.E.V.I.L[ECSCD102 / DST70713-12]
Released 11/00 on Echo Records (CD/12") and House Nation (2x12"). Written by Thomas Detert & Mike Grieshemer. Produced by 666. This is a fantastic house/trance crossover that is very tounge in cheek and no doubt will be a big tune. A deep spoken male vocal repeatidly spells out the letters D.E.V.I.L to a pumping house beat - very catchy. I've also got a double 12" of this tune [DST70713-12] with the first 12" featuring two slightly superior mixes than those that feature on the CD single. The second 12" features all the samples used in this track, which is useful for DJ's and producers.

Promo CDS: 666 - D.E.V.I.L[RADCD102]
Released 11/00 on Echo Records. Written by Thomas Detert & Mike Grieshemer. Produced by 666. Thanks to Brian Harris for this information.

12": Solange - Messages[GC54 / GC54X]
Released 10/99 on Global Cuts (club division of R & S Records - Belgium). Written and produced by M. Stone and M. Scully. I'm not overly keen on the Original and Mr Pink Mixes, but on the first 12" feature two wonderful remixes by 4AM and Gouryella, both of which are rolling trancers.
| |||
12": The Space Brothers - Legacy [Show Me Love][FESX55]
Released 7/99 on Mercury Records. Written and produced by R. Simmonds and S. Jones. Produced by Stephen Jones. Lead vocals by Kate Cameron and backing vocals by Sonia Maz. This track is huge - a wonderfully produced progressive houser with a driving, hands-in-the-air melody and featuring uplifting female vocals from "Show Me Love". Both mixes are superb, with the Club Mix defining the perfect slice of progressive house, whilst Matt Darey provides an equally good, harder edged trancier remix. Don't miss.
CDS: The Space Brothers - Legacy [Show Me Love][562200-2]
Released 1999 on Manifesto. Written and produced by R. Simmonds and S. Jones. Produced by Stephen Jones. Lead vocals by Kate Cameron and backing vocals by Sonia Maz. See above for review. Thanks to Brian Harris for this information.

12": Spacecorn - Popkorn[RECLAIM002]
Released 8/00 on Reclaim the Underground (Sweden). Written by Gershon Kingsley. Produced by Daniel Ellenson. This is another revamp of Hot Butters 'Popcorn' which i'm guessing is a spin-off from the recent Electrofunk by the Space Penguins (see below). Whilst this version is deeper and harder, the Space Penguins version remains superior. For more information on Spacecorn see their web site.

12"/CD Single: Space Penguins - The Electrofunk[0091780PLA / 0091845PLA / 0091785PLA]
Released 11/99 on Edel UK Records. Written by Gershon Kingsley. Produced by Dino Lenny and the Space Penguins. Additional remix (12") on track one by Atlantis and on track two by Loop da Loop. Additional remix (CD 1) on track one by Atlantis and on track three by Claudio Coccoluto. Additional remix (CD 2) on track two by Atlantis and on track three by Loop da Loop.
The Atlantis Remix is a fun trancer incorporating a hook originally written by Gershon Kingsly and most famously used in Hot Butters 'Popcorn'. I used this as a closing track on one of my U-4-IC mix tapes, and it worked so well that its now a regular closing track at both Whirl-Y-Gig and Planet Angel.

12": SPX - Straight to the Point[HK051]
Released 2000 on Hook Recordings. Written and produced by Piet Bervoets, Benno de Goeij & Mischa van der Heiden. Additional remix and production on track 1 by Lange. Ditch the rather bland original mix and head straight for the almighty Lange remix which is a deadly piece of stomping trance with spine tingling piano chords. Not to be missed.
| |||
12": Star - Digital Times[STA-2]
Released 8/99 (white label). Minimal information on this UK based quality progressive houser where uplifting housey piano riffs bounce over an upbeat bassline. Two equally good mixes, where Mike Marshall opts for a slightly harder edge.
| |||
12": Stefano Libelle & HH - Slapbang[PC 9913-6 / LC1087]
Released 1999 on Planetary Consciousness. Written and produced by Steffen Altig, Hardy Heller and Ray Boye. This is quite a fun, bouncy trancer featuring on the ever-reliable Planetary Consciousness label.
| |||
12": Stefano Libelle - Medicine[TS9905-6]
Released 11/99 on Trance Spectral. Written and produced by Steffen Altig, Michael Gerlach and Florian Preis (Gerlach and Preis record together as Sunbeam). Not quite up to the same standard as 'Slapbang', but nontheless a decent trancer.
| |||
12": Stray Dog - Mirror[Black Hole 111-5]
Released 8/99 on Black Hole Recordings (Netherlands). Written & produced by T. Verwest. Nice cover art, minimal information - typical! This is a gentle progressive houser with soothing, simple melodies that trundles along, never really taking off, but effective nonetheless. Both Signum (Coming on Strong) and HH (Hardy Heller???) provide quality remixes.

12": Stretch 'N' Vern present "Maddog" - Get Up! Go Insane![FXX 304 850 967-1]
Released in 1997 on FFRR/SPOT ON.
The better of the mixes is Moonmens Theme; numerous large build-ups and breakdowns incorporated with reverberating samples of "Get Up! Go Insane!", combined with a driving melody and hands-in-the-air piano chords - this is a storming piece of progressive house. Disco Dub is remixed by Fatboy Slim. Here Norman Cook delivers a slower funkier version of this track, which is heavy on percussion and whistles. No doubt this mix will be appreciated by fans of hip-hop and those annoying kids with whistles at clubs. There's a second 12" of this single with other mixes on it.
| |||
CDS: Stretch 'N' Vern present "Maddog" - Get Up! Go Insane![FCD 304 850 963-2]
Released in 1997 on FFRR/SPOT ON. Fatboy Slim keeps the beat up in the Lost It mix, while the Terrace
Edit is harder and the Rock 'N' Roll Mix has a slightly classic feel...but not much. Thanks to Brian Harris for this information.

12" / CD Single: Subliminal Cuts - Le Voie Le Soleil[XLR 53 / XL/INT 827.925]
(P) 1994 XL-Recordings Ltd. (C) 1996 XL-Recordings Ltd. The 1994 summer anthem got a make-over courtesy of Way Out West and Itchy and Scratchy (aka Seb Fontaine and Jules Vern), and re-released on XL-Recordings in '96. If this doesn't send you dreaming of Ibiza then nothing will. The CD single of this track features an additional mix titled the Fade Mix, which, according to Andi Cowell & Brian Harris, is a complete stormer of a remix thats slowed down a bit and more orchestral - thanks for that information guys.
| |||
CDS: Subliminal Cuts - Le Voie Le Soleil[XLS 53 CD]
Released 1994 on XL Recordings. Written, produced, mixed
and arranged by Patrick Prins. Track 1 vocals by Henry. Stay with the
Way Out West track on this one.
| |||
12": Summer Spirit feat. Tatjana - My Dreams Will Come True[GO 040]
Released 2/99 on Go For It! Records (Germany). Written and produced by Daniel Sok, Bernd Johnen, Jens Kindervater and Veit Ostkamp. Three slices of quality uplifting progressive house.
| |||
12": Sunday Club - Winds of Change[12STR94]
Released 10/98 on Stress Recordings. Written and produced by Stuart King and Marc Mitchell. Its a slow starter, but once 'Part 1' hits the mid track break-down/build-up this one takes off in style - it works very well as a mid-set track. 'Part 2' is more uniform in pace, and is quite a pleasant progressive number, with vocals similar to those of Blue Amazon. Also, don't miss the storming Sunday Club 'Lens of Atlantic' remix of 'Kaleidoscope' by the Art of Trance.
| |||
12": Sunscreem - Exodus '99[FAM001]
Released 11/99 on Five AM Records. Written and produced by Holm, Carnell, Fricker & Woodford. Two fine cuts of semi-commercial progressive house.
| |||
12": Swan - Memory[AQUA23]
Released 4/99 on Aquarius Records and distributed by A.R.D. Written and produced by Marc Swan. The same label that first brought us Binary Finary's '1998' now delivers this sublime little beauty. Both mixes are superb slices of melodic trance/prog house, although the Euphoric Mix is not quite as spine tingling as the title suggests. Don't miss.
| |||
12" : Swan - Memory (The Sessions)
Released 9/99 on Aquarius Records and distributed by A.R.D. Written and produced by Marc Swan. More remixes of this quality uplifting trancer spread over two vinyls.
| |||
CD Single : Swan - Memory feat. Galia
Released 1999 on Aquarius Records and distributed by A.R.D. Written and produced by Marc Swan and Roy Aquarius. Additional remix and production on track 1 by Binary Finary and on tracks 2 & 3 by Marc Swan.
| |||
12": Swan - Plastic Sex[AQUA29P]
Released 4/00 on Aquarius Records and distributed by A.R.D. Written and produced by Marc Swan. This is a promo of the latest offering from Swan. Unfortunately neither track adds up to much.
| |||
CD Single/12": System F - Out of the Blue[ESX1]
Released 3/99 on Essential Recordings. Written and produced by Ferry Corsten. Angelz Remix by Fionn Luca, Huggy Burger Queen and Paul Harris. This is a huge progressive house track that's already crossed over into chartland territory. Both mixes hit the spot - needless to say that this is being played to death everywhere.

CD Single: System F - Out of the Blue[ESCD1]
Released 3/99 on Essential Recordings. Written and produced by Ferry Corsten. Thanks to Brian Harris for this information.
| |||
12": System Lush! - Goin' On[RPR013]
Released 9/99 on Red Parrot Records. Written by Mike Koglin, John Cecchini & Colin Hamilton. This track was stimulated by the famous Northern Irish club 'Lush!'. It's a collaboration between Lush! promoter & DJ, Colin Hamilton, regular Lush! DJ John Cecchini together with producer Mike (Silence) Koglin. Both mixes are excellent.
