Trance and Progressive House - Artists E - H
Listed on this page are various trance / progressive house singles and 12"s listed in alphabetical order (indexed by the first letter of the artists name). When I first started writing this site I grouped singles and 12"s together in this fashion as a fast means of cataloging tracks. These pages are now being slowly dissolved, with each individual artist and producer featuring on their own individual page, although this is taking some time to complete. In the mean time use the A - Z link bar below to skip to other pages on these A-Z pages. Please note that a full A-Z list of artists and producers featuring on this site can be found here.

12": Earthbound - Essence of Life[EVENOVA003]
Released 11/99 on Eve Nova Records. Written and produced by Anders Eriksson and Fredrik Johansson. Two quality cuts on the third release from the sub group of Eve Records.
| |||
CDS: Earthbound - Essence of Life[563 388-2]
Released 1999 on Fluid Records. Written and produced by Anders Eriksson and Fredrik Johansson. This single only contains two tantalizing edits of a great track. Thanks to Brian Harris for this information.
| |||
12": Ecano - Run[AVANT003]
Released 8/99 on Avantgarde (Licensed from Tetsuo Recordings). Written and produced by Oliver Lieb. The Z2 remix of this track is an astounding cut of this driving hard edged pounding trancer. Dark, hard and deadly.
| |||
12": Elaysia - La Galaxie[CASES1]
Released 8/00 on Cases Records. Written and produced by Martin Zahn & Marcus Ritter-Kury. Vocals on track 1 by Katia Antoin. Published by Edition Fog Area. 'La Galaxie' is an excellent slice of trance making good use of female spoken vocals in French and a very powerful uplifting melody. Currently one of my favourites. 'Apollo' isn't up to much, but with such a strong A side that doesn't matter.
| |||
12": Enigma - Push the Limits[DINST205]
Promo released 4/00 on Virgin Schallplaten GmbH (official release set for 5/00). Written and produced by Michael Cretu and Jens Grad. Track 2 remixed by Andre Tanneberger. The original album mix of this track (taken from the album 'The Screen Behind the Mirror') is typical ambient Enigma, whilst ATB manage to produce an upbeat and atmospheric trance version.
| |||
CDS: Enigma - Push the Limits[7243 8 96718 2 7]
Released 2000 on Virgin. Written and produced by Michael Cretu and Jens Grad. Tracks 2 & 3 remixed by Andre Tanneberger. See above for review. Thanks to Brian Harris for this information.
| |||
12": Ernst & Ben - Provider/Outpost[IDJ3T]
Released 12/99 on IDJ Records. Tracks 1 & 2 written and produced by Ben Dijkgraaf. Track 3 written and produced by Ernst Bijlsma. The original mix of 'Provider' skips along at a brisk pace, although has a slightly dated feel to it due to the sliding synth line used throughout. However, the Pulser remix has a much more trancey vibe to it and really charges along. Add a few 'Horny Horn' type horn samples and you've got a belter of a track. Superb. Another top tune on the same label that recently released GD - Choral Reef.
Outpost, on the other hand, is rather average.
12": Eternal Rhythm - Deep Down Under[QC021]
Released 5/00 on Quad Communications. Written and produced by Mark James and David Berman. Mixed by Pee Wee Feris. Remix and additional production on track 1 by Kasey Taylor. Head straight for the original mix on this 12" which is an awesome combination of an old Deep Forest chant ('Forest Hymn' I think - although I may be wrong) with a solid, driving trance tune - very uplifting and a major tune for the coming summer months.
| |||
12": Evolution - Phoenix[FLR012]
Released 12/99 on Fluid Recordings. Written by B. Jamieson & J. Sutton. Remix and production on track 2 by S. Noble and Rowan Blades. Two quality cuts of deep progressive house that belong in the same camp as John Digweed's Bedrock.
| |||
CDS: Evolution - Phoenix[FLR 014 CD]
Released 1999 on Fluid Recordings. Written by B. Jamieson & J. Sutton. Remix and production on track 2 by S. Noble and Rowan Blades. Two quality cuts of deep progressive house that belong in the same camp as John Digweed's Bedrock. Thanks to Brian Harris for this information.
| |||
12": Exit EEE - Epidemic[TTRAX024]
Released on Tripoli Trax/XL Recordings in '97. The late Tony De Vit provides the best mix by far here - a superb piece of progressive house.
| |||
CDS: Exit EEE - Epidemic[XLS 91 CD]
Released 1997 on XL Recordings. The Future Breeze Mix is standard fare. Stay with the Tony De Vit Mix and JDS
Mix. Thanks to Brian Harris for this information.
| |||
12": Extreme Trax - Final Fantasy Remixes[UNKNOWN]
Released 1998 on Bonzai Trance Recordings. Written and produced by Yves De Ruyter & Dirk "M.I.K.E." Dierickx. Occassionly I get sent on wild goose chases - this is an example of one of them. I spent about a year trying to find this track after a tip-off; I wish i'd never bothered. Unfortunately this amounts to no more than an average trancer.
| |||
12": Fire & Ice - Forever Young[XTC054]
Released 6/00 on Lightning Records. Written and produced by Jurgen Leyers and L-Vee. The title track is a quality feel-good trancer. However, this is accompanied by 'My Galaxy', which is equally as good, if not better. Opening with BT style electro-bleeps that progress into standard 4/4 trance beats, onto which builds a charging, uplifting melody. Quality.
12": Florian F - Surreal Brazil (The Remixes)[PRGUK002]
Released 4/00 on PRGUK Records. It's this Rio Attack mix that's the killer tune here, with all the vibe and atmosphere of a street carnival. Packed full of percussion and a addictive uplifting melody taken from the film 'Brazil' (written by Terry Gilliam from the Monty Python team) - if you've seen the film you'll know why this tracks titled 'Surreal Brazil'. An absolute must for the global dancefloor. The Extreme Version is much tougher and harder, which results in a less uplifting carnival vibe. Two mixes of Surreal Brazil have just been released on Neo Records (6/00). See below for CD single.
| |||
CD Single: Florian F - Surreal Brazil[ZYX9148-8]
Released 4/00 on ZYX Music (Germany). Written by F. Fusato, D. Cimitan. Remix on track 3 by A. Barroso. At last i've managed to get my paws on the CD single of this fantastic track. Head straight for the Rio Attack Remix and the Trance Extended mix - sheer quality.
| |||
12": Floyd - Come 2 Gether[LQ004]
Released 3/00 on Liquid Recordings (Netherlands) - a division of Spinnin' Records. Written and produced and mixed by R. van de Beuken. Two quality cuts of progressive house, with the title track standing out as the better of the two.
| |||
CDS: Floyd - Come 2 Gether[DST 70762-8]
Released 2000 on Dance Street / House Nation. Stick to the vocal-free club mixes of both tracks. The CD insert incorrectly lists
only three tracks, leaving out the Vocal Mix. Thanks to Brian Harris for this information.
| |||
12": G.D. - Choral Reef[IDJ2T]
Released 11/99 on IDJ Records/Incentive Music Limited. Written and produced by Gurjit Delay. Decent trance from G.D on the ever reliable IDJ label.
| |||
Single: German Poets - Ruhe[ZYX 9179-8]
Released 4/2000 on ZYX Music GmbH (Germany). Written and produced by Christopher von Deylen & Mirko von Sclieffen. Yes, this is the same track that Schiller released a few months ago, although before you get too excited its nowhere near as good as Schiller's fantastic release. The Longplay-Fashion Mix is comparable to Schiller's Longplay Mix; its the same kind of vibe but this time round the male chant has either been re-recorded or stuck through some filters with an end result that is just non-pleasing to listen to - it almost sounds like its out of key....hmmmmm. The Free Swimmer Mix is a lengthy dance version of the track that is completly ruined by a monsterous version of the German spoken male sample - its a shame because the rest of the track is a decent trancer. I'm starting to wonder what planet the German Poets are from/on???? No kidding, this version of the spoken sample sounds like something from Buffy the Vampire Slayer - i'm not sure i'd risk playing this one in fear of freaking-out everybody on the dancefloor. Anyway, the Hampster Mix saves the day, providing an even longer, upbeat version of 'Ruhe' that isn't ruined by bad samples.

12": Gian Piero - Children[MMR004]
Released 1/99 on MM Records. Written by R. Concina (Robert Miles) and produced by Diskoking and Gian Piero Consentino. The original version of 'Children' by Robert Miles was released on Platipus Records in 1995, and then later re-released on Deconstruction and BMG Records in '96, going Platinum in the UK. Towards the latter end of '98 a couple of the big name jocks were canning these new remixes, which have now been released on this German label - available only on import in the UK. Both the Extended Version and the Club Mix are superb remixes that manage to break away from the theme of the original mix (which is and always will be a Euro-trance classic) - worth forking out the extra few pounds for.
| |||
CDS: Gian Piero - Children 2000[KONTOR052]
Released 1999 on Kontor Records. The best tracks here are the similar sounding Official Bootleg and Bootleg mixes. The
Gardeweg Mix also delivers the goods. Thanks to Brian Harris for this information.
| |||
12": God Within - Crucial Introspection Pt.1[54291-0]
Released '99 on Sunburn Recordings (USA). Track 1 written and produced by Scott Hardkiss. Track 2 written by Scott Hardkiss & Sameer Sengupta with guitars by David Smith. God Within is the solo vehicle for production genius of legendary DJ, producer & all around Rock Star, Scott Hardkiss (who featured on Sasha and Digweeds 'Northern Exposure'). This is the stronger of the two Crucial Introspection EP's, featuring the wonderful guitar led Indian Summer.
| |||
12": God Within - Crucial Introspection Pt.2[542950 /SPF010-1]
Released 11/99 on Sunburn Recordings (USA). Track 1 written and produced by Scott Hardkiss. Track 2 written by Alter Ring and Scott Hardkiss. This is a down tempo beauty, a perfect end-of-night chill out track.
| |||
CDS: God Within - Crucial Introspection Parts 1 & 2[54296-2]
Released 11/99 on Sunburn Recordings (USA). Thanks to Brian Harris for this information.
| |||
12": Golden Girls - Kinetic '99[DISNT59]
Released 11/99 on Distinctive Records. Written by Mike Hazell. Produced by Mike Hazell and P&P Hartnoll. A blinding new remix of this very old classic takes the shape of the Jensen & Carter Remix, which actually doesn't sound anything like the old original, but nontheless is a blinding track. Commie's Full Length Edit actually features all the old samples, but in turn is beefed up and isn't as appealing as the trancey Jensen & Carter Remix. Essential.
| |||
CDS: Golden Girls - Kinetic '99[DISNCD59]
Released 11/99 on Distinctive Records. Written by Mike Hazell. Produced by Mike Hazell and P&P Hartnoll. A blinding new remix of this very old classic takes the shape of the Jensen & Carter Remix, which actually doesn't sound anything like the old original, but nontheless is a blinding track. Commie's Mix - Full Edit actually features all the old samples, but in turn is beefed up and isn't as appealing as the trancey Jensen & Carter Remix. Essential.
| |||
12": Gouryella - Gouryella[TSU100%9/BLU001T1]
Released 5/99 on Tsunami. Written and produced by DJ Tiësto and Ferry Corsten. Head straight for the title track, 'Gouryella', which is an upbeat, hard-edged trance monster that pales the flip-side percussion fuelled 'Gorella' into insignificance. Can Ferry Corsten do no wrong? Later re-released (6/99) on Codeblue [BLU001T1] with a welcomed additional remix by Armin van Buuren.
| |||
CDS: Gouryella - Gouryella[AVTCDS-200]
Released 1999 on Avex Trax. The Gigolo Remix sticks close to the tone of the original. Thanks to Brian Harris for this information.
| |||
12": Gouryella - Walhalla[BLU006T]
Released 11/99 on CodeBlue. Written and produced by DJ Tiësto and Ferry Corsten.
| |||
12": Green Court - Moonflight[CLUB99001]
Released 4/99 on Club Guerilla Records (Germany). Written and produced by Andrew McCensit, Marc Dawn, Tom Brady and Steve Workleg. This is another big mainstream progressive house tune that's doing the rounds and getting flogged to death in clubland. All three mixes hit the spot.
| |||
CD Single: Green Court - Follow Me[3984 29546-2]
Released 1999 on WEA Records. Licensed from Drizzly/Club Guerilla Records. Composition, production and lyrics by Marc Dawn, E. Schmeier, Andre Wevers and Steve Workleg. Vocals by Kira. This is a belter of a track from Green Court - forget the commercial sounding 'Moonflight' and head straight for the Dumonde remix of this hard edged trancer. Fantastic!
| |||
12": Havana - Ethnic Prayer[LIMB23102T1]
Released 8/00 on Limbo Records/Limbo Progressin (Series 100). Written and produced by Tony Scott, Richard Miller and Gypsy. Limbo Records are currently revamping some of their old classics from their extensive back catalogue. Home straight in on the Mea Culpa remix of this golden oldie, which is a superb slice of trance with wonderful ethnic vocals. Unfortunately the CL McSpadden Remix pales against the Mea Culpa Remix, which is much lighter in style and consequently loses the drive behind the track.
| |||
CDS: Havana - Ethnic Prayer[LIMBO 007CD]
Released 1993 on 23rd Precinct Records. Written and produced by Tony Scott, Richard Millar, Graham Drinnan. It's still good,
tho sounding a bit dated. All the tracks revolve around the same premise. Thanks to Brian Harris for this information.
| |||
12"/CD Single: Heliotropic - Walk With Me[SKYWT3 / SKYWCD3]
Released in '97 on Skyway Records. Written and produced by Dewar and Hale. A great progressive house hit with wonderful female vocals.
| |||
CDS: Heliotropic - Walk With Me[AB 1791612]
Released 1997 on Alabianca Records. Thanks to Brian Harris for this information.
| |||
12": The Highlander - Emotional Overload[BLU018]
Released 12/99 on Blutonium Records (Germany). Music by Ingo Kunzi. Words by Allan Michie & Ingo Kunzi. Vocals by Sarina. Track 1 produced by Allan McLoud. Track 2 remixed by Onda Del Futuro. Track 3 produced by DJ Tandu. The DJ Tandu Original 95 Mix stands out as the better of the three mixes, although the lengthy DJ Allan McLoud Club Mix is well worth playing too.
