Syndrome
| CD Single / 12": Syndrome - Heyo (Nana Ae)[UMT 70982/UMD 70342]
Released in 1997 on Universal Music as a 12" and CD single. Written and produced by Nata Cumerfield. Mixed by Manny Stuck. As the title suggests this is a trance/tribal crossover - much in the same genre as Dario G's Sunchyme, although not as cheesey. Steel drums, uplifting piano melody and a catchy chant (Heyo Nana Ae) add to a solid beat and an all round excellent track that has subsequently become a Whirl-Y-Gig anthem after I gave this to DJ Monkey Pilot.
| 12": Syndrome - Heyo (Nana Ae)[MCA8P 4205 / MCA 13209]
Released in 1998 on MCA (Music Corporation of America) as a promo 12". Written and produced by Nata Cumerfield. The extended mix is the same as that of the original 12"/CD single released on Universal Music. Of these other remixes, Neil's Hyped Mix is the best of the bunch and makes a decent alternative to the Extended Mix. The Reduced To The Max Mix strips the original down to less than its bear essentials and adds a thumping 4/4 house beat behind it; there's very little that this mix has in commen with the original, with the Heyo chant almost unrecognisable with the added gated effect. The Morel and Bristol Soul Mix also adopts the house approach, adding extra percussion and dated sounded synth bleeps and chords. Thanks to Rolo Mawlabaux for loaning me this 12".
