12": Spirit[POLL183] | |||
Released 1/01 on Dance Pollution (a division of Arsenic Sound). Written by R. Marchesini and R. Arduini. Produced by Double R. Realised by Roby Arduini and Raf. 'Spirit' is one of those tracks that you'll either love or hate. This is the first time that bagpipes have successfully been used in a trance track since Perplexer released 'Acid Folk' back in 1994 - I say successfully in that I mean that this isn't your regular trip down to the dairy. Both mixes on this 12" are very similar with very little to distinguish the two, which is a minor whinge, but nontheless this is a very hypnotic and uplifting trancer. As well as the bagpipes it also features a very unusual deep male spoken vocal (repeating the words "the spirit in the air, the music, the music") which is incredibly flat and out of key - although in a strange and warped sense this actually works in stark contrast to uplifting cheeky vibes brought through by the bagpipes. One for the global dance floor - excellent stuff.
