'Spirit' is one of those tracks that you'll either love or hate. This is the first time that bagpipes have successfully been used in a trance track since Perplexer released 'Acid Folk' back in 1994 - I say successfully in that I mean that this isn't your regular trip down to the dairy. Both mixes on this 12" are very similar with very little to distinguish the two, which is a minor whinge, but nontheless this is a very hypnotic and uplifting trancer. As well as the bagpipes it also features a very unusual deep male spoken vocal (repeating the words "the spirit in the air, the music, the music") which is incredibly flat and out of key - although in a strange and warped sense this actually works in stark contrast to uplifting cheeky vibes brought through by the bagpipes. One for the global dance floor - excellent stuff.
