The Secret
The Secret was born out of the free party vibe in 1994 by combining the talents of musicians Alpha S, Dr Crow & Mr E. Dedicated to the spreading of uplifting dance music, they were discovered by Logic Records Germany in the summer of '94 and quickly released the anthem 'Gorgeous' which is now a classic trance/techno tune from London to the U.S. Leaving Logic to form their own label SECRET RECORDS they are now banging out the very latest dance music including top London club compilation CD 'Escape from Samsara'. To date they have released over 15 vinyl singles and had 14 tracks licensed over 10 CD compilations including two CD LPs compiled by and released through SECRET and a track on the Radio One Sound City '97 compilation CD. The Secret's debut artist album was released in April 1998 and their second album in the summer of 2001. Taking their music live to the masses The Secret first played for Megadog at the Manchester Academy in late '95 and have since played over 50 storming gigs in London and all over the UK, including The Brighton Dance Parade, WOMAD Festival, The Out There Festival (Normandy) and at The Lizard festival in Cornwall. The Secret and Secret Records produce and promote a wide range of dance music i.e. Trance/Techno, Hard House, Trance-core, Radikal Trance, Drum & Bass, Euro-Trance, Chart music, Goa and Ambient & Experimental styles. Album: The Secret[SECTCD 003]
The debut album from The Secret (released '98). The cover issues a warning that "this album contains seriously uplifting trance music". Well, I'm not sure about uplifting, but the general theme for the album is seriously banging trance music - i.e., an all round excellent album!

12": Starkissed / Darkest[LUK 062]
Released in '95 on Logic Records. This was the first release of 'Starkissed', which is the same version as that titled the 'Original Mix' later released on Sperm Records (see below). 'Darkest' and 'Darkest Techno Dream' appear to be remixes of 'Starkissed'.
| |||
12": Camberwell Carrot / Big Sticky Sky[KARM002]
Released in '97 on Karmic Records. Another couple of dark tracks with monster riffs - I guess the 'Camberwell Carrot' is The Secrets tribute to the film 'WithNail and I'.
| |||
12": Tantrik | |||
Released on Secret Records - not sure when or what the catalogue number is though. I assume this is one of their early releases.
| |||
12": Starkissed[SPERM021]
Released in '97 on Sperm Records as a luminous yellow promo. This is another of the Secrets strong tracks - a hard trance, eastern influenced little beauty, with all mixes hitting the spot, especially the 'Original Mix'. Features on the debut album.

12": Gorgeous | |||
Released in '97, this is a blinding fast 'n furious (and I mean fast!) piece of trance that will set dance floors alight. The Gorgeous Orgasm mix is the best mix of the lot (how can it fail not to be with a track name like that!), adding a euphoric feel to the track, whilst the Nut Haus and Future AKA mixes concentrate on the hard edge theme. The Himalayan Memory mix is a very ambient mix taking the melody part from the Gorgeous Orgasm mix - all very pleasant, but doesn't actually go anywhere as a track on its own. Definitely one to buy for the record collection. The Gorgeous Orgasm mix also features on the Escape from Samsara compilation and on the Secrets debut album.

CD Single: Gorgeous[7432123266-2]
Released in '94 on Logic Records. Thanks to Brian Harris for this additional information.
| |||
12": The Hard House Files[SECT7]
Released '97 on Secret Records. Both of these tracks feature on the album.
| |||
12": Big[SECT 6] | |||
Huge dirty guitar riffs and driving beats in this '98 dance floor stormer. Its a lot darker than either Gorgeous or Starkissed, and falls more in line with the 'Camberwell Carrot/Big Sticky Sky' 12" on Karmic Records....and as the label on Big states, it "contains naughty language". Not one for your granny.
| |||
12": Rhythm of Life[LUSH27]
Released 11/98 on Lush Recordings. Written and produced by Bagg, Tingy and Young.
| |||
12": Do No Wrong / Hold Me!!![SECT 10]
Released 5/99 on Secret Records.
| |||
12": Blow Wind Blow[PEN004]
Released 5/01 on Pendragon People Records. All tracks written and produced by Bagg, Tingey and Young. Licensed from Secret Records. The Secret return to form with their first 12" from their forthcoming new album - and its a belter of a track too. The better of the two mixes is The Celtic Mix - essential.
| |||
Album: Hard Dance Masters[SECTCD004]
Released 2001 on Secret Records. All tracks written and produced by Bagg, Tingey and Young. 'Hard Dance Masters' is The Secrets second album, featuring a handful of new tracks amongst some of their previous vinyl releases, some of which date back to 1998. Of the new material its the likes of 'Blow Wind Blow', 'Hold Me' and 'Once Upon a Time' that stand out as the more tuneful tracks, whilst the others stick to the usual banging hard trance formulae that The Secret seem so good at. If its 160 BPM trance that you're after then this one is for you - otherwise avoid and spend the evening in with your granny instead.
