Salt Tank
Salt Tank are Malcolm Stanners, David R Gates and AA Rose. Top trance artists on the Internal Record label.

Single: ST3 | |||
Released in '94, ST3 made little impact on the dance scene. Strangely though, when re-released as ST6 - Eugina, this track was a huge hit with DJ's. Hmmmmmm! Zion Train provide a superb funky remix of Charged Up.
| |||
Single: ST4 | |||
Another '94 release, containing the excellent Olympic, which is remixed on ST5.
| |||
Single: ST5 - The Peel Sessions
The Peel Sessions, a regular radio show with John Peel on Radio 1FM (UK), recorded live in '94 and is probably one of the best singles in the ST series. Tracks one and two are fast and furious trance favourites of mine, whilst the other two tracks are quite ambient, but still very good. Most of these tracks feature on the compilation album ST7 Science and Nature.

Single: ST6 - Eugina | |||
Released 1996 on Internal Records. Eugina is the track that has suddenly thrown Salt Tank into the limelight, with the response from the music press and DJ's being nothing but praises. And it is a lovely track too! Sargasso Sea is mixed by Swordfish, from Astralasia - a very ambient version of Eugina. Eugina also features on the trance compilation Abduction. Charged Up is another version of Final Charge from the ST5 single, which is a welcome bonus track to this single.

Album: ST7 - Science and Nature
The best of the ST series is featured on this compilation, most of which features on ST5 and ST6. If you already own the singles, then don't bother with the album. However, if you've missed them in the past, then this is an essential purchase.

Single: ST8 - Swell | |||
Following in the steps of ST6 (including another mix of Eugina!), this is a corking single. Astralasia provide a classic remix as well, with Swordfish's unmistakable fingerprints left all over it. This is one of the stronger singles from ST7.
| |||
Single: Wave Intruder | |||
Released 8/97 - the first 12" to appear without an ST prefix and the first to feature from the new album. The title track is a scorching bit of progressive house, whilst over on the other side pi fails to go anywhere special. The CD single includes a bonus track as well.

CDS: Salt Tank - Wave Intruder[FCD 307]
Released 1997 on FFRR.
| |||
Album: Wave Breaks | |||
Late '97 release is the second album from Salt Tank. Its a bit of a change in style, with the emphasis on drum and bass rather than the trance/progressive house of their recent material like Wave intruder.

12": Skyline | |||
Released 2/99 on 4 Real Communications. Two slices of amicable progressive house.
| |||
12": Salt Tank - Dimension[HOOJ074 / HOOJ074R]
Released 6/99 on Hooj Choons. Written and produced by M.J.Stanners & D.R.Gates. Salt Tank deliver a huge driving progressive number that will be raising a few heads this summer.
| |||
CDS: Salt Tank - Dimension[HOOJ74CD]
Released 6/99 on Hooj Choons. Written and produced by M.J.Stanners & D.R.Gates. Salt Tank deliver a huge driving progressive number that will be raising a few heads this summer. Thanks to Brian Harris for this information.
| |||
12": The White Island EP
Released 9/99 on Hooj Choons. This is an excellent double 12", with the two cuts of Rezmorize blending breakbeat trance with the classic track 'Rez' by Underworld. Both Jeanie and Ocean are downbeat.
| |||
12": Eugina[LOST004 / LOST004R]
Released 12/00 on Lost Language. Written and produced by Salt Tank. Additional remix and production on track 1 by DJ Tiësto. 'Eugina' and 'Sargasso Sea' were first released back in 1994 on ST3 and then later on ST6 in 1996. Both tracks have been dusted off and brought up to date on this double vinyl release. Essential.

CD Single: The Energy[BED23CD]
Released 9/01 on Bedrock Music Ltd. Written and produced by Salt Tank. Additional remix and production on track 2 by DJ Remy and on track 3 by Evolution. Salt Tank opt for the deep trance vibe, sounding very typical of Bedrock. Salt Tank's own mixes stand out the better of the bunch, all of which are lengthy at around 10 minutes each. Not the most inspiring Salt Tank release to date, although if Bedrock style trance is your thing then you'll probably want to check this out.
