Recycler
Recycler are a French duo who very efficiently manage to stay anonymous. Their sound is a mental fusion of bigbeat and breakbeat with acid 303's and Middle Eastern elements, sounding like Joi, Swami, Transglobal Underground and the Dhol Foundation rolled into one. It was obvious then that they should exile their home country and join forces with Nation Records back in 1998 with their debut single releases 'Fuh 115' and 'Deumtouch', followed in 1999 by the album 'AlphaBhangraPsychedelicFunkin'. Their second album, 'Iboga', will be released on March 3rd 2003 on Nation Records.

CD: Recylcler - AlphaBhangraPsychedelicFunkin[NRCD1097]
Released 1999 on Nation Records. Written and produced by Recycler. Thanks to Rich @ Nation Records for the copy of this album. The contents of 'AlphaBhangraPsychedelicFunkin' are as interesting as its title. Its a roller coaster ride, flicking from hard hitting, tribal rhythms and distorting psychedelia into more accessible, less intense global grooves. Most of the tracks have a Middle Eastern and Eastern connection, although not necessarily just Bhangra as the title implies. Highlights include the funky 'Khomuzedric', the Turkish sounding 'CNL 771' and 'Yumiko...', a fantastic down-tempo global gem. As an album I find 'AlphaBhangraPsychedelicFunkin' impossible to listen to from end to end, having to flick past the intense distorting tracks. But this is a minor grumble and I heartedly recommend this album for the tracks i've highlighted. Available to buy on the Nation Records web site.

CD: Recycler - Iboga[NRCD2012]
Released March 3rd 2003 on Nation Records. Written and produced by Recycler. Thanks to Rich @ Nation Records for the copy of this album. 'Iboga' is follows closely to its predecessor, with a range of funky Bhangra and Eastern influenced grooves and harder hitting, experimental sounding psychadelia. Its an essential purchase, for the likes of 'Kromozom Bankal', a superb funky track that will be on my play list for some time to come. Other highlights include the opening and penultimate track, 'Sensi & Foxy', a wonderful Arabesque moment (sounding similar to Radars 'Caravane'). Available to buy on the Nation Records web site.
