12": Push - Universal Nation - The Remix[004R-12 / CDFERN16 / CXFERN16]
Released 12/98 on Bonzai-Trance (Belgium). Written & produced by Dirk "M.I.K.E." Dierickx. This is a superb track; a slow build up of stomping beats leads into full on banging trance with that characteristic "whoop" sample and mid-track electronic spoken sample that's slightly incoherent. Later re-released 5/99 on Inferno Records with additional remixes by Flange & Swain - personally I'd stick with the Original and Dumonde mix.

CDS: Push - Universal Nation (The Real Anthem)[563 225-2]
Released 1998 on Urban. Written & produced by Dirk "M.I.K.E." Dierickx. This CDS has a CD-ROM program called "Urban Navigator". Thanks to Brian Harris for this information.

12": Push - Universal Nation '99[TFERN20]
Released 9/99 on Inferno Records. Written & produced by Dirk "M.I.K.E." Dierickx. This is the third release of Universal Nation within the same year - this is catching up with the 'Age of Love' (by Age of Love) for the ridiculous number of re-releases. However, I'll ridicule no further since this time round Mr Corsten and Mr Lieb have produced two superb new remixes. Good on 'em.

12": Push - Cosmonautica[006-12]
Released 2/99 on Bonzai-Trance (Belgium). Written & produced by Dirk "M.I.K.E." Dierickx. 'Cosmonautica' is an amicable follow on from the mighty 'Universal Nation' - not quite to the same caliber, but nonetheless is a worthy spin. On the flip is a live version of the live mix of 'Universal Nation', which isn't a mile different from the studio version, although it does capture the crowd going mental!

12": Push - Till We Meet Again[BR2000153]
Released 6/00 on Bonzai-Music 2000 (Belgium). Written & produced by Dirk "M.I.K.E." Dierickx. Taken from the forthcoming album 'From Beyond'. More deep pounding trance from Push, with both mixes of 'Till We Meet Again' hitting the mark. 'Travelogue' follows the same lines as 'Cosmonautica'.

CDS Promo: Push - Till We Meet Again[95007-2]
Released 2000 on Bonzai Italy. Written & produced by Dirk "M.I.K.E." Dierickx. Thanks to Brian Harris for this information.

CD Single: Push - Strange World[CDFERN38]
Released 4/01 on Inferno Records. Written and produced by Dirk "M.I.K.E." Dierickx. Additional remix and production on track 3 by Hardy Heller. Push return with a bit of a mainstream anthem - the 2000 Remake is the best of the bunch, whilst the HH Remix is a little bit on the weird side.
| |||
CD: Push - From Beyond[VMP 550069-2]
Released 2000 on VMP. Mostly filler material, the remixes are often more enticing. Although this is a good place to find
Cosmonautica on CD.

12": Plastic Boy - Twixt[BTPUK01]
Released 1999 on Bonzai Trance Progressive. Written and produced by Dirk 'M.I.K.E. Dierickx. Forget the original mix and head straight for the Mea Culpa Remix of 'Twixt'. This is equally as good - if not better - as the recent 'Angel Dust'. It's a banging trancer that sits close to the hard trance territory, which charges along at full throttle making full use of breakdowns and big build ups to build the momentum of the track.
| |||
12": Plastic Boy - Angel Dust[BTP-65-2000]
Released 3/2000 on Bonzai Trance Progressive. Written and produced by Dirk 'M.I.K.E. Dierickx. 'Angel Dust' is a well produced slice of trance - slightly hard edged, yet retaining an uplifting vibe with use of a subtle vocal. On the other side the vibe doesn't change much with a remix of 'Life isn't Easy' that features a whispered sample of "Ecstasy" for a major part of the track - subtle references to the old disco biscuits no doubt. Both cuts are equally good and banging tunes - no doubt i'll be playing both frequently in the coming months.

CD: Plastic Boy - Hardwired[WASH027-2]
Released 2001 on Wash/Intergroove. All tracks written and
produced by Elef Tsiroudis and Raul DeChile except track 10 written and
produced by Elef Tsiroudis and Michael Bierler. Almost all the tracks here
are assembly line filler. Daylight saves the album, along with the
interesting Chord Attack. Thanks to Brian Harris for this information.

12": Plastic Boy - Silver Bath / Dahab[UKBONZAI14]
Released 8/02 on UK Bonzai. Written and produced by Dirk 'M.I.K.E. Dierickx. 'Silver Bath' starts off on a less than average foot, although after a rather lengthy mid-track breakdown it steps up a couple of gears and the track veers off towards more powerful and anthemic trance territory. However, its 'Dahab' that stands out as the better of the two, being a slightly eerie trancer with Ethnic undertones that glides along very smoothly. Quality.

12": Plastic Boy - Live Another Life[DJFERN59]
Promo released 10/03 on Inferno. Written and produced by Dirk 'M.I.K.E. Dierickx. It's good to see Plastic Boy on a relatively mainstream UK label such as Inferno. The title tune is another superb driving trancer from Plastic Boy, whilst the b-side 'Night Hawks' is rather abstract in comparrison. Worth getting for 'Live Another Life' alone.

Promo released 2003 on Inferno. Written and produced by

12": Moon Project - Moments are Forever[UKBONZAI10]
Released 2001 on UK Bonzai. Written and produced by Dirk 'M.I.K.E. Dierickx & Guy Naets. 'Moments are Forever' stands out as the better of the two here, sounding very much like M.I.K.E's Plastic Boy releases, i.e very smooth and subtle trance. Nice.

CDR promo: Mass Effect - Plasma[TBA]
Released 2001 on UK Bonzai. Written and produced by M.I.K.E. Thanks to Brian Harris for this information.
| |||
12": Mass Effect - Alphascan[PULSE040]
Released 6/01 on Pulse, a division of Overdose. Written and produced by M.I.K.E. Additional remix and production on track 2 by Frank Zenker. The original version of this track is excellent, featuring a repetitive and hypnotic analogue riff over a driving trance beat - a very simple formula but very effective. The Arome Rmx steps on the throttle and toughens up the beats into a throbbing tech-trance affair whilst keeping the analogue riff as the center piece. Two essential cuts - shame about the fade outs at the end of both versions though.
| |||
12": Nevada - Touched by the Hand[ZAI002]
Released 4/01 on Bonzai UK. Licenced from Big Fish Music. Written and produced by M.I.K.E., Jamie & DJ Stigma. Remix and additional production on track 2 by Guy Naets. Bonzai turn up trumps once again. Head straight for the Jericho Remix which is a wonderful trancer that gradually builds into a deep, pounding hypnotiser. Minimal use of spoken female vocals ("Feel the touch of my hand") in the breakdown work well and prevent this from becoming too dark. At its peak this one flys - essential.
