CD: Freakuency[74321555342]
Released 1998 on BMG Denmark. Written and produced by Puddu Varona. Amazing and hard-to-find debut album from Puddu Varano, focusing significantly on acid breakbeat. Fully comparable in quality to Star 70. Particular standout tracks include the sampled Motorbikes, Day Without Sun, and Doberboy. Thanks to Brian Harris for this information.
Promo CDS: Puddu Varano - Day Without Sun[74321600622]
Released 1998 on RCA/BMG Denmark. Three worthy mixes, but none stand up to the catchy original.
| |||
CDS: I'm Going Away[74321555332]
Released 1998 on BMG Denmark. Written and produced by Puddu Varona. The first track is nice enough, but the other three are lacking representations in both drum & bass and hardcore. Thanks to Brian Harris for this information.
CDS: Motherless[74321652002]
Released 1999 on BMG Denmark. Written and produced by Puddu Varona. The Original Mix is fast and upbeat, whilst the Face Da Boom Remix takes some getting used to because it sounds like the track is running at half speed. Thanks to Brian Harris for this information.
CDS: On A Sunny Day[74321711322]
Released 1999 on BMG Denmark. Written and produced by Puddu Varona. Original version features on the album 'Star 70'. Thanks to Brian Harris for this information.
12": What About the Girls[MURENA003]
Released 2000 on Murena Records. Written and produced by Puddu Varona. Contains elements from "Easy Evil" by A.O. Day. Additional remix and production on track 2 by DJ Nima, on track 3 by Jadell and on track 4 by Los Chicharrons. 'What About the Girls' is another of Puddu Varano's wonderful funk fuelled tracks and one of the highlights of the Star 70 album. The Menimax Remix slows down the pace down, whereas the Jadell Remix breaks up the beats and adds percussion - quite fun. The best is saved for the Los Chicharrons Remix which adds and extra helping of glam and significantly increases the tempo whilst staying faithful to the original version.
12": Colombia[MURENA005]
Released 2/01 on Murena Records. Written and produced by Puddu Varona. Vocals by Ramon Santana. Additional remix and production on track 3 by Cut La Roc and on track 4 by Jacknife Lee. Stick to the 'Original Mix' of Colombia, which is a fantastic excursion of '70's style funk fused with Afro-Caribbean glam. Hammond organs let rip!

Promo CDS: Puddu Varano - Free Fall[74321 64023 2]

CD: Star 70[74321 64023 2]
Released 2/00 on RCA/BMG Denmark (Italy (BMG) May 00 / France (BMG) Jan 01 / UK import (BMG) Jan 01). Written and produced by Puddu Varona. Vocals on tracks 4 & 6 by Ramon Santana, on track 3 by Thomas Troelsen, on track 5 by Carla Alexandra and on track 2 by Al Agami. This is a very interesting album, covering many styles of music. The highlight is undoubtably 'Colombia', which is the same version as the 'Original Mix' on the the above vinyl. For me personally the album opens on a very strong note and maintains a high level of production and originality up until 'Colombia', after which things start getting a little bit dark and moody for my liking. From this album i've been playing 'Star 70', 'On a Sunny Day', 'Invisible Man' and 'Columbia' on a regular basis in my funk/bigbeat sets - i've not got many albums in my collection that can boast that. Well worth hunting out.
12": Treating Me Mean[MURENA0011]
Released 10/01 on Murena Records. Written and produced by Puddu Varona. Vocal by Lady Z. The title track is a solid samba-house combo, featuring vocals by Lady Z, although the emphesis on these vocals is subtle. For those not so keen on vocals, the dub mix drops the bulk of the vocal content whilst keeping the rest of the track intact. 'Lets Get Higher' is a slower paced slice of disco-funk. Overall this is a rather average affair.
CD Album: Time To Grow[Murena 015CD]
Released 2002 on Murena Records. Written and produced by Puddu Varona. 'Time to Grow' is like listening to a different artist. As artistic as this change to downbeat latin jazz is, it's not what a fan of Puddu Varano's previous release, Star 70, would likely be looking for. Very different. Thanks to Brian Harris for this information.
