Psyburbia
Psyburbia began in 1997 as URB, when Baz from industrial act Ragewar started to write some material that was instrumental and more groove oriented. Angelpuss was recruited to play keyboards live, and has co-written several tunes. After winning their way into the finals of a competition for new dance acts, URB released an EP ('They Come for the Beats') on Angel's Trumpet. URB mutated into Psyburbia as the act started to rock main areas at events such as Earthcore and Reclaim the Streets, followed by appearances on the Sunblock, Earthcore and Hempsense compilations. Psyburbia placed two tracks on JJJ's 'Tweek' compilation, released 'Carmageddon' on Matsuri, and programmed 3 hours of JJJ's 'mix-up', establishing a strong global fan base. More compilations followed including Green Ant, Earthcore (again), SPL and 'Nightflight' on Germany's Nova Tekk label, as well as appearances at parties such as Every Picture Tells a Story and festivals such as Offshore and Big Day Out. A second album, 'Groove Invaders', was released through Creative Vibes, and the track 'We Can't Lose' received substantial rotation on JJJ. The album sold particularly well in Europe. Now Psyburbia comes full circle with a new deal with Black Hole recordings, the home of Ragewar and a vast array of cutting edge acts, and a new EP is due late 2002, followed by a new album in early 2003.

CD: Psyburbia - Interstellar Mushroom[HOLE025] | |||
Released 2002 on Psyburbia / Black Hole Records (Australia). Psyburbia's new CD EP 'Interstellar Mushroom' features seven previously unreleased versions of tracks, some of which have already shown up on albums. Kicking off with the breakbeat madness of Arcane Trickster's remix of perennial Psyburbia favourite 'Urban Forest Odyssey' the EP takes in four on the floor, drum and bass, and dub inspired trippy downtempo. This CD EP is one for completists and is a way of 'emptying out the cupboard prior to the release of the new full length album 'Deep Space Blues'. 'Deep Space Blues' marks a new chapter for Psyburbia. Featuring collaborations with other producers such as Rip Van Hippy, Om Squad and Scanner it is a deeply trippy exploration of electronic music at the edges of reality. It also features a collaboration with legendary guitarist Bernie Torme whose resume includes playing with Ozzy Osbourne's band, and Ian Gillan of Deep Purple. But fear not ... it ain't heavy but it is supremely trippy. Look for it later in the year... in the meanwhile enjoy ‘Interstellar Mushroom' .
