Pendulum
Pendulum are Aussie trio Gareth McGrillen, Paul Harding and Rob Swire, and can be credited for single handily re-kick starting the drum 'n scene. They debuted with their impressive album 'Hold Your Colour', which fused breaks with drum 'n bass and everything else from seatbelts to scary spiders. Nice one.

CD: Pendulum - Hold Your Colour[BBK002CD]
Released 2005 on Breakbeat Kaos. All tracks mixed by Rob Shire. Its the album everybody is talking about, opening up drum 'n bass to the masses and inexcusably fusing and crossing genres like there’s no tomorrow. From the war-of-the-worlds'esqe prelude to 'Slam'
to the ragga tones of 'Fasten Your Seatbelts', the sheer brashness of 'Tarantula' and soothing tones of the title track 'Hold Your Colour', this album ticks all the boxes twice over. Where do they go from here?

12": Pendulum - Spiral[RISE002]
Released 2003 on Uprising Records. Written and produced by R. Shire, P. Harding & G. McGrillen. The title track is an excellent, hypnotic drum 'n bass number with hints of Pendulums' deep and darker side. It's a lesser known tune from the days before Pendulum hit the big time. On the flip 'Ulterior Motive' is a more manic and agressive affair. Well worth hunting this vinyl out.

12": The Prodigy - Voodoo People (Pendulum Remix)[XLS 219 CD]
Released 2005 on XL Recordings. Pendulum successfully revive The Prodigy's classic 'Voodoo People' from the mid 90's, giving it the drum 'n bass makeover and creating a monster in the process. Essential.
