The Merengue is the national dance of the Dominican Republic and is also very popular throughout the Caribbean and South America, being one of the standard Latin American dances. Hence here, with more than a subtle hint of Latino, 'Merengue' is a brassy summer fuelled, 4/4 global dance gem that will light up dance floors, featuring spoken vocals that are the icing on the carnival cake. The Club Mix is the one to go for although its only a subtle revamp of the Original Vocal Mix, whilst Terry's Basic Mix strips away all the brass leaving just the bass line and spoken vocals.

Produced by Terry and Gregg for OHM Productions. Further remixes of 'Merengue' have appeared on Finalize Records. The Bailando Mix, featuring Ramiro "Chama" Suarez Piedro is only a subtle re-working of the Club Mix that featured on Vendetta Records / Blanco-Y-Negro Music, with the addition of Spanish backing vocals from Ramiro Suarez Piedro. I prefer the original mixes, finding that these additional vocals bordering on the corny side. The Terry & Gregg Remix, however, is a complete makeover. Dropping out the brass whilst keeping the spoken vocals, here the vibe is definitely 70's disco funk, with the emphasis on the deep funky guitar riff which loops throughout.
