Kadri Abazi
Kadri Abazi is not a music project in the usual sense with a band and a singer and the accompanying popstar cult, rather a project that aims at bringing people together who wish to "move" something in the positive sense of the word. The connection between these people is the music - in this particualr case, it is a charming melody that transgresses the boundaries of conventional music. Classic sounds from the oboe are blended with traditional African choir songs to a solid sound experience of a unique quality. Lisa Löhner

CD Single: Kadri Abazi - Cosmic[LLR7]
Released 6/00 on Lisa Löhner Records (Germany). Music and words by Kadri Abazi. Produced by Lisa Löhner. Executive producer Kadri Abazi. 'Cosmic' is a great global trance tune, combining catchy chants, a soothing oboe melody in the midtrack breakdown and a really bouncy beat. The chants have been used before in the Deep Forest single 'Madazulu', but here they are put to better use. The Club Version is the better of the three full length mixes, although the other two mixes are worth playing. The Electric Version adopts a gentle breakbeat and makes greater use of the clarinet melody whilst the Extended Version is a subtle variation of the Club Version. An essential tune.

CD Single: Kadri Abazi - Spirit[LLR77]
Released 6/00 on Lisa Löhner Records (Germany). Music and words by Kadri Abazi. Produced by Lisa Löhner. Executive producer Kadri Abazi. This is the second single from the album 'Mother Africa' and follows closely in style to 'Cosmic'. Both the Radio Version (which is also the album version) and the Ibiza House Mix play heavily on pan pipes - i'm sorry, but I just find the sound of pan pipes in dance music some what corney. The Radio Version is quite a light version of this track, and is the weakest of the bunch. The Ibiza House Mix is more trance than house, sounding the harder of all the mixes. However, its the fantastic Terrax Club Mix that hits the mark, which is a well balanced mid-paced ethno-trancer making excellent use of the catchy tribal chant from beginning to end, thankfully dropping the use of the pan pipes in place of which is a well used didge. 'Africa' is the same track that also features on the album 'Mother Africa', although on the album this is track 5 ('Elefant Man'), which is probably just a mistake with the track naming. 'Africa' also features catchy ethnic chants and is fairly upbeat, although fades out horribly at the end of the track.
