Jask Meredith

Jask was born in Udorn,Thailand April 10th 1974 under his real name "Jack Meredith". His Father being of American descent and his late mother being of thai descent, raised Jask basically in America (Tampa, Florida). And both exposed him to all kinds of music when he was growing up. "Okay...fast forward a lil'bit and then we'll take you back to the early days of Jask's history..." Known for his DJing / productions / remixes and parties, Tampa native Jask has lit a new torch in the world dance community, bringing forth his unique blend of deep, spiritual, jazzphonic and soulful sounds to the map. He also promotes his own parties, and continues to be one of Tampa's most respected DJs / producer/ promoter.

In '87 Jask began his DJ career at the age of 14, a career influenced by downbeat, soul, jazz, funk, R&B, hiphop and early 80's rock & electronica. As the months passed, he would soon discover and quickly embrace a passion for the music that was coming out of Chicago & New York, known as the underground house sound. Five years later Jask was one of the major players to introduce the acidjazz sound to Tampa and most of central Florida. He held Tampa's longest running eclectic loungin' affair, called "Martini Jazz", which ran from '94 to '96. The "Martini Jazz" affair brought some notoriety to Jask, which eventually led him to assist in the promotions of "Groove Collective's (NYC) first ever performance in the Tampa area.

In '96 Jask started Tampa's first weekly soulful underground house night called "Jackshouse". During its 5 year successful run Jask has played alongside various talented djs such as: Mark Farina, Dj Disciple, Benji Candelario, Marques Wyatt, Doug Smith (95north), Brian Tappert (Soulfuric), Miguel Migs, King Britt, Tedd Patterson, Tommy Musto, David Harness, Rasoul and many other luminaries in the dance music industry...Still till this day, Jackshouse is still going on strong every Tuesday night hosted by Jask. In 1999 at Miami's winter music conference an uplifting moment in Jask's career occured when he grabbed the global house community's attention by playing at the King St. Party. In 2000 Jask was asked to play several parties at miami's WMC. But the one that was special was the Soulfuric party with Brian Tappert, Knee Deep bros. & John "Julias" Knight which got Jask respect from his peers in the global dance community...

Still residing in Tampa Jask remains a contributor to its small intimate scene. He also co-hosts the local radio mix show called "Our House" with his partner in deepness, David Reyero. The show can be heard every Saturday night from 2 to 6AM on Tampa's WMNF 88.5 FM community radio. Internet streaming access to the show is also available at www.wmnf.org. With a lot of passion and faith, Jask continues his mission in exposing and sharing quality music to the world.

On the production and remix side of the musical pendulum, Jask has appeared on such notable labels as: KingStreet / NiteGrooves, !Records, Swanky, Metaphor, K2 / Vinylicious, Step Ahead, Erotic City, DeepTouch, Harlequin, SoulGroove, Soulfuric Deep and Large Music. His most recent and promising project is slated for release on Soulfuric Deep called Jask feat. Jocie "Beautiful". This will be Jask's first original vocal track in which he wrote everything from the music to the Lyrics. With haunting lush deep vocals from his friend Jocie, this project is already making positive waves in clubland. It is a special release in which Jask has dedicated it to his late mother who recently just passed away this year. Lets pray that "Beautiful" will soar through the skys and make its way to heaven....

"Where there is God, there is spirituality, and where there is spirituality, you will find Jask. This talented DJ, producer and remixer has served notice to the dance world that he intends to keep the torch of spirituality lit. Unique in his own way, Jask brings to the spiritual dance movement an Asiatic essence that emanates patience and the Far East ideals of love and togetherness. With Jask at the helm, spirituality in music is bound to last another thousand years."

The Latin Vision follows in the footsteps of the BMR remix of Fiorello's 'Azzurro' - 10 minutes of solid 4/4 dance beats combined with a leading sax solo, the result of which is an absolutly stunning global dance gem. The response to this on the dance floor when it was first played at Whirl-Y-Gig was fantastic and it has been a regular on my playlist ever since. Essential.
