12": Goldenscan - Ascension[DUB001T] | |||
Released 2003 on Dubious Recordings. Written and produced by Goring
& McCormick. Additional production by Geoff Southhall. The original mix of 'Ascension' is a big late night tune currently on my play list. It's a tough electro-trancer with searing 303's and plenty of analogue fx. The mid-track break provides uplifting undertones in the form of subtle phonetic vocals (they are more of a chant than a vocal) and beautiful sweeping strings, before building into a monster second half of the track. Superb. The B.L.Z. Dub is an amicable alternative, dropping the phonetic vocals and adding an assortment of extra analogue sounding fx throughout the track. One to keep an eye on in the near future.
