Various Artists : Going Global Series
Launched in '93, the Going Global Series takes the African and Arabic music that has worked its way into the French culture, via a colonial past, and places it in a fresh context. The result of the experiment is found on this record: exciting, state of the art modern music with a truly international flavour. Thanks to its large African and Arabic immigrant community, Going Global's Paris home has become the place where continents and musical styles collide, making it an ideal launchpad for the labels splicing of these talents to the finest European practitioners of House and Techno.

The artists allowing there work to be retouched are huge stars in their own right. Algerian Khaled outsells Michael Jackson in Africa and Asia, while Guinea's Mory Kante dominated European radio in the summer of '88 with Yeke Yeke, which sold over a million copies. The stunning remix of this track by Germany's Hardfloor, was one of the biggest dance records of 95, and is being remixed yet again and re-released very soon (end of '96). Justin Robertson, of Lionrock fame, transforms Rachid Taha's Voila Voila - the project that launched the Going Global Series. Khaled's Kebou simmmers thanks to a startling re-jig from the electric pioneers and Bjork collaborators Fluke, while Franfurt's Oliver Lieb (of Spicelab and Ambush fame) travels the fierce, hard trance route with Mory Kante's Mogo Djolo.
