Glow and the Department of Luminosity

From bottom to top (see cover of Unavailable at all Good Record Shops), Glow and the Department of Luminosity are Maria João Branco, Bagpuss (otherwise known as Bagz), Pete Ardron and Karl Walinets. They formed in '95 and have since have played numerous live gigs, including Whirl-Y-Gig, Megatripolis, Glastonbury and the Reading WOMAD Festival. Their music is a unique blend of global beats ranging from ambient to moderate paced global trance, fused with English and Portuguese lyrics from the stunning lead singer Maria João. The result is unmissable, undoubtedly uplifting and positively vibrant. Radiating warmth and good vibes, Glow are a new star in the global music circuit. As with Transglobal Underground, Glow are joined by an ever changing melting pot of talent, including long time members Bagz (percussion and didg) and Karl Walinets. Other members include guest vocalists, engineers and all the live crew.

This is the original '97 tape-only collection of unreleased demo's from Glow. Its a fantastic collection of vibrant and uplifting global'esque moments featuring the powerful and beautiful vocals of Maria João Branco. The reason for this originally being a tape-only release was that in 1996, when Glow's debut album was near completion, disaster struck in that the hard drive containing 18 months of programming died. To cut a long story short, the tracks were only put onto tape in their unfinished format, and then later re-mastered in 2002! See below for the re-mastered CD release.

Released October 2002 on Luminous Recordings. Recorded 1995 - 1997 and re-mastered by Pete Ardron 2002. At last Glow's debut album is restored and available on CD, as it duly deserves, with the additional bonus track 'Ai O Meu Amor'. Still sounding as fresh as a daisy and magically original, this album remains a firm favourite of mine and a high recommendation. Thanks to Pete Ardron for this CD.

Released 1998. An excellent album following close in the footsteps of Glow's debut album and featuring some really strong tracks. Notable tracks worth mentioning are Way Deeper From Inside, the excellent Eastern influenced Prana and the beautiful Harmonia. Note that '... Almost Forgetting to Breath' has been re-mastered in 2002.

Promo release 11/01. Many thanks to Pete Ardron for the advance copy of this album. Three years in the making and Enfeitiçada, Glow's third album, is their most polished and professional sounding album to date. It is also more world / global orientated than the previous two albums.

Ela É Mar, which featured on Unavailable at all Good Record Shops, has been released on the 'Dubxotica Ethnofunkadelia' compilation and by the French label Ultravista around Europe and distributed in the UK by Discovery records.

Pete Ardron is currently producing an album for Rainbow Nation, titled "Shadow and Soul".
