Drum Club

Lou Hammond and Charlie Hall were the legendary Drum Club, residing on the Sabrettes record label. Three albums worth of pioneering techno music and we see the end of this duo, with Lou Hammond concentrating on his Slab project with Sabrettes owner Nina Walsh, whilst Charlie Hall is concentrating on his MC Projects label.

'93 single. Underworlds remix of Sound System is one of my all time favourite tracks - its one of those long driving trancy tracks that really kicks once it gets going - wicked stuff.

Another '93 oldie on Butterfly Records/Big life Records. All the mixes are by L. Hammond and C. Hall, none of which are anything amazing. The Rub-a-Trance-Mix is quite tribal, but fails to go anywhere special.

One of Drum Clubs classic tracks has had a 1997 polish and re-released as part of Jackpot records revamp of the Guerilla Records back catalogue. Blue Amazon provide a fab mix which stomps along with a massive climax at the end of the track, whilst the Drum Club mixes are a little on the diverse side, especially The Project mix - then again, when weren't Drum Club diverse?

Obviously, with the split of Drum Club announced there will be no future material under this title....bugger!

BUT, with Jackpot records re-releasing most of the Guerilla Records back catalogue, expect to see some of golden oldies reappearing with new remixes in the coming months.
