Released 2005 on Purple. This white label vinyl is a bit of an enigma, and, as it is one of a limited 800 pressing, it's also somewhat rare. Minimal details are given on the vinyl, with just the email address purple166@hotmail.com featuring on both sides of the label, and the number "57478" and "purple" inscribed in the vinyl. It's a chunky take on Deep Purples 'Smoke on the Water', delving into deep electro house with the main focus on the instantly recognisable heavy guitar riff that features throughout the track. The two mixes on offer are identical in structure and only differ with subtle changes in percussion, most noticeably during the breakdowns. As a result the two mixes don't offer any real variation. As bootlegs go this is a bit of a marmite track - some people will love it whilst others will loathe it. Given the minimal details provided on the vinyl it has appeared in numerous guises in various online stores including "Deep Purple - Smoke on the Water 2005" and "Purple - Purple". Various stores list this as being a French pressing and that the label is called "Purplex" (probably a play on "Purplexed" which is a Deep Purple album title), although there's nothing on this vinyl to confirm this.
