His record selection consists of anything form Platipus Records to independent labels. Matt takes time in researching his musical style in order to preserve originality. At times, the continuing quest to push trance to the limits provokes Matt Michaels to experiment with techno and break beats. The combination of these three music styles is what makes him a true performer, rather than just a DJ. One golden rule that Matt Michaels follows when mixing is "Go as far as you can..........as long as it sounds good!"

DJ Matt Michaels brings you 74 minutes of select trance and progressive house cuts from the latter half of the decade and expertly mixes and blends them in a flawless smooth flowing set.
A range of notable huge club hits like the unmissable Paul van Dyk '97 revamp of the ageless classic The Age of Love, Vincent De Moor's Flowation and the (late) Tony de Vit remix and Trade anthem of Exit EEE's Epidemic, are complimented with an intelligent choice of tracks from all four corners of the progressive trance scene. Uplifting vibes from the Platipus back-catalogue, sublime vocals in Tilt's Butterfly, and contrasting darker beats from Underworlds Trainspotting lager anthem and Sperm Record's Deep Sounds lend to a tireless mix that's hard to fault; my only gripe is that at 74 minutes it's a little on the short side, an unfortunate restriction of CD-R recording. Overall this gets a well deserved 5/5 from myself and a healthy recommendation for any club promoters/record labels. I look forward to hearing more from Matt in the future.
