Children of the Bong
Children of the Bong were on of the last additions to the Planet Dog record label (joining Eat Static and
Banco-de-Gaia) and were regulars on the MegaDog circuit back in the 90's.

'Sirius Sounds', the debut album ('95) for COTB, is a very electronic affair, apparently recorded on Banco-de-Gaia's equipment
...but the similarities end there. 'Polyphase' and 'Ionospheric State' are probably my favourite tracks (the latter also found on the '94 compilation album 'Quadruped V.1' from Planet Dog, which also contains some interesting material from 'Optic Eye', 'Zuvuya' and 'Active Loop Zone' - its a pity that the other COTB track on this compilation album, titled 'Ultrascope', is not included on the 'Sirius Sounds' album, since this track is
wicked!). 'Interface Reality' is best described as electrofunk, 'Underwater Dub' is, as the title suggests, quite dubby, whilst
other tracks ('Visitor' and 'Life on planet earth') are quite ambient. And then there's 'Squigglasonica' which is one big squiggle sound effect...weird! But after a while it all tends to get a little bit plinky plonky and samey for my liking, with no real solid beat behind any of the tracks to keep me interested. Shame, because COTB have potential.....Bong on!
