Alex D'Elia vs Ebop Allstars
Alex D'Elia and Andrea Doria are the producers behind the critically acclaimed IDJ release 'Isn't Life Wonderful' which was released in July 2000. Born in Rimini, home-town of Italian nightlife, Alex started DJing at 13 and took part in DMC scratching competitions. In the late 1990’s he met Andrea who started out at the age of 12 composing music for video games. Although Andrea owned his own studio and had collaborated successfully with a number of producers, he was about to throw in the towel after being badly ripped off. Alex convinced him to have another go... the pair sent a demo into Dino Lenny’s London based Age One label under the name Atlantis ITA and were signed in 1999 - their single 'See You In The Next Life', went on to become one of Oakie’s biggest records of the year and was featured in his Essential Mix CD. Inspired by this Alex and Andrea went on to produce 'It’s Too Late' under the alias Flat 6, an Essential New Tune for Pete Tong, and the Ferry Corsten championed 'African Soul Anthem' as Arriva for IDJ. 12": Alex D'Elia vs Ebop Allstars - Isn't Life Wonderful?[IDJ8T]
Released 2000 on IDJ/Incentive Music Ltd. Written by Alex D'Elia, Andrea Doria and D. Lanni. Produced by Alex D'Elia and Andrea Dori. Two very different cuts here - the first, Alex's Original Vocal Mix, is a long pounding peak time trancer featuring a female electronic spoken vocal of "isn't life wonderful". On the flip is a deep, industrial techno remix with really big fat beats and a spiraling top-line somewhat reminisant of Rez (Underworld). These two versions will suit very differing dancefloors - makes a pleasant change to hear something with a bit of variety. Essential.

12": Arriva - African Soul Anthem[IDJ4T]
Released 2/2000 on IDJ Records. Produced by Andrea Doria & Alex D'elia. Written by Andrea Doria and D. Lanni. Vocals by Derek Green. Licensed from Age One Records. Yet another strong trancer on the relatively new IDJ label. African Soul Anthem is based around an ethnic/world chant (which sounds more soul orrientated than African) that is kind of overpowering in Arriva's Original Mix. By this I mean the sample is used too frequently and hence is very much in-your-face. However, there is more depth to the Atlantis ITA Remix, which is less dependant on the chant and as a result works better than the original mix. A great new tune for the global dance floor.
