Agnelli & Nelson
Ireland based DJ and producers Chris Agnelli & Robbie Nelson are well know for their infectious Euro-trancers 'El Nino', 'Everyday' and 'Embrace' featuring on Alex Gold's Xtravaganza Recordings label. They also record as 'Afterburn' and 'Quincey & Sonance'.

12": Angels Fly '98 / Bolivian Angel '98[RGB001]
Released 1998 on RGB Records. Written and produced by Agnelli & Nelson featuring spoken vocals by Mark Jackson. As far as I know this lesser known track is the debut 12" by 12" from Agnelli & Nelson and also RGB Records debut release ('Everyday' was released first on RGB Records before later appearing on Xtravaganza Recordings). These two rare tracks feature all the hall-marks of Agnelli & Nelson and are actually very good, up there with the likes of 'Everyday'. 'Bolivian Angel 98' is the tougher of the two remixes, whilst the longer 'Angels Fly 98' is more uplifting with more emphesis on the chants and adds an extra breakdown featuring a spoken sample of "you are not going to wake up to me baby, you are going to fly like a plane". Well worth hunting this out. Many thanks to Rolo & Co for loaning me this vinyl.

12": El Nino[0091570 EXT]
Summer anthem of '98 on Xtravaganza Recordings. The Original Mix is a little on the cheesy side (although I hasten to add that it works wonders on the dance floor), which is probably why it got so much airplay on the radio during the summer. A bouncy base line and a simple melody combine with lots of spoken Spanish lyrics about a freaky weather condition in the USA....hmmmm. Matt Darey adds a slightly harder edge to the track, starting minimal, although once past the mid track build-up (that seems to go on for an eternity) the track kicks off in style complete with the cheesy spoken lyrics.

CDS: Every Day, Every Moment, Every Time - The Mixes[XTRAVCDP]
Promo released 1999 on Xtravaganza Recordings. The title of this was shortened to 'Everyday' on the official release. Thanks to Brian Harris for this information.

12": Everyday[XTRAV212]
Released 9/99 on Xtravaganza Recordings. Another summer anthem from Agnelli & Nelson. The Lange Remix has a large vocal content that gives a very commercial feel, whilst the Original Mix ditches the vocal and goes straight for the jugular. This is far better than 'El Nino'. Guess its going to be huge, even though Ibiza is winding down at the time of its release.

12": Embrace[XTRAVDJ11]
Released 6/00 on Xtravaganza Recordings. The third annual outing from Agnelli and Nelson and this is set to be another huge summer hit. Skip the Original Mix and head straight for the New York Mix - bigger than 'Everyday'??? Well, its going to give it a run for its money.

12" / CD Single: Hudson Street[XTRAV13CDS / XTRAV1312]
Released 8/00 on Xtravaganza Recordings. Following on only a few months after Embrace is the title track from the forthcoming debut album by Agnelli & Nelson. Its an average affair that unfortunately is overshadowed by the three previous singles - makes for a good filler though.

Album: Hudson Street[XTRAV14CD]
Released 8/00 on Xtravaganza Recordings. The debut album from Agnelli and Nelson is a round up of their previous singles on Xtravaganza (with the exception of El Nino), plus a handfull of new vocal based tracks. Indeed, it is these new vocal tracks that give an overall commercial impression to the album, although this isn't a bad thing. If you are missing the previous singles then this album is definitly worth getting.

12": Everyday 2002[XTRAV3112 / XTRAV31X12]
Released 6/02 on Xtravaganza Recordings. Second time around for Agnelli & Nelson's anthem of '99 with new remixes by Agnelli & Nelson and Xtravaganza label owner Alex Gold. With remixes from yesteryear hitting the shop shelves it can only mean one thing - its summer time in the UK. Three years on from its original release and still as fresh as a daisy, was Everyday really in need of remixing? Well, it has to be said that both the Alex Gold Instrumental Mix and Agnelli & Nelson 2002 Mix are both very good, staying very faithful to the original. The latter is a lovely smooth, driving adaptation, with added clattery percussion, although the added topline melody is a little "hammy". Alex Gold can be praised for his Instrumental remix too, with only a subtle tweak of the original format. However, he deserves to spend the rest of the year in the sin bin for his horrendous vocal version; maybe this will be appreciated in commercial club land but its getting a red card from me.
